We will be exploring the origins of yoga and how its philosophy developed in this workshop. This workshop is for those who want to learn more about the history of yoga and its success worldwide. It will also help teachers understand the philosophy so that they can use it in their classes.

The Yoga The Upanishads

We invite you to explore the secrets of ancient yoga texts. The Upanishads are among the most ancient mythological and philosophical texts known to man. They contain the wisdom and teachings of ancient sages. These extraordinary texts offer a deep view of who and what we are, as well as the deeper meanings of our world and the purpose of life. These texts were meant to be received directly from teachers, and not from books.

Hatha yoga is a popular practice today. But where did it originate? This workshop will help us understand Hatha yoga’s origins and align our minds with its original intent. In addition, we will talk about the chronological background, its development, the three phases of development, and Kuṇḍalinī.

Meet the Presenter

Originated in Madrid, Spain Carlos During more than 40 years of study and practice, he has been deeply influenced by all aspects of yoga tradition. 18 years were spent as a monk under Swami Gitananda of the Saraswati orders, which included 9 years of practice and traditional training in India.

He learned various systems of Indian Philosophy, and he also became a senior monk of the tradition. He taught meditation and philosophy to thousands of students all over the globe. Combining his traditional experience with academic training, he has two Masters Degrees in Sanskrit (from U.C.). He has taught at Berkeley and has also completed a Masters Degree in Religious Studies from U.C. Santa Barbara. His current work is on a book regarding the topic. “Karma and the Journey of the Soul”, as well as a new translation of the Śivasūtra, an important Tantric text of the Kashmiri tradition .
