Alane O’Connor, DNP Related seminars and products: 1

MaineGeneral Medical Center

Dr. Alane O’Connor, DNP, is a faculty member of Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency and is on the medical staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center. Her clinical work focuses on addiction medicine and the management of opioid use disorders using buprenorphine. She developed an integrated medical and behavioral health treatment program that has served hundreds of opioid dependent pregnant women over the past ten years. Dr. O’Connor has published her ground breaking research on infant outcomes following exposure to buprenorphine during pregnancy in many journals including the Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, the Journal of Perinatal Medicine, European Addiction Research, the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Through her role as co-chair of MaineGeneral’s opioid steering committee, she also works to expand access to medication assisted treatment in the primary care setting by mentoring other clinicians and practices. She coordinates the residency’s addiction medicine education and has academic appointments at Dartmouth Medical School and Vanderbilt University. She also serves as a peer reviewer for a variety of journals.

Merideth Norris, DO, FACOFP, FASAM Related seminars and products: 8

Dr. Merideth Norris has been working in Maine for over 15 years. Her practice scope includes Osteopathic Family Medicine and treating substance use disorder, obesity, and pain management. She has worked in emergency departments all over Maine, as well as detox facilities, inpatient treatment environments, methadone clinics, and outpatient recovery centers. Dr. Norris is the Medical Director of Enso Recovery and has a private practice. Dr. Norris is board certified in Osteopathic Family Medicine by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Medicine, in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and in Obesity Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

She is frequently seen in the press advocating for available resources for people with substance use disorder and drafts large amounts of testimony to the state legislation on opioid policy and treatment access. She has been interviewed as an addiction expert on both local public radio and the national Reelz network. Recently, Dr. Norris became certified as a Ringside Physician by USA Boxing and became the medical consultant for Susan Elia MacNeal, author of the Maggie Hope detective series. Dr. Norris has three children.

Steve Danzig, LCSW Related seminars and products: 1

ENSO Recovery

Bio: Steve Danzig is the executive director of ENSO Recovery. Enso Recovery currently operates outpatient substance use and mental health disorder treatment programming with offices in Westbrook and Sanford. They provide: MAT services, structured sober living, and are heavily involved in department of corrections with several programs set to open in collaboration with county jails providing MAT and treatment to inmates across Maine. His professional licensure includes: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Clinical Supervisor, and Certified Intervention Professional. Steve has been in the treatment industry since the late 90’s. His career experience includes Mercy Hospital detoxification program, Preble Street Resource Center and Teen Center, Serenity House (adult men’s halfway house), 12 years in private practice, executive director of New Freedom Academy in New Hampshire (young adult primary residential substance use disorder treatment) and professional interventionist for 15 years working throughout the United States.

Joseph Py Related seminars and products: 1

Bio: Dr. Py has been working in Addiction Medicine in Maine for 28 years, with 24 years of experience treating individuals with Opioid Use Disorder using Medication Assisted Treatment. He is Board Certified in Family Practice, certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Addiction Medicine through the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine. He has additional training in Environmental Medicine, Nutritional Medicine and Medical Hypnosis. He is currently Medical Director of Healthcare Resource Centers in Portland and Lewiston, which are outpatient comprehensive opioid use disorder treatment facilities.

Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency Program

Bio: Dr. Kelley Harmon is 2005 graduate of UNECOM and is a board certified osteopathic family physician and faculty member at Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency Program (MDFMR) where she practices full spectrum care with both inpatient and outpatient focus inclusive of obstetrics and pediatrics. She has a special interest in opiate dependence care in pregnancy, group visit models of care and interprofessional education. Administratively, Dr. Harmon is the Director of Pre-Doctoral Education at MDFMR and serves as Regional Assistant Dean for University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and has clinical faculty roles at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Tufts University School of Medicine.
